I normally blog about food or some type of recipe.  This blog however, will give you information about an event that involves the Twins Wives Organization and a non-profit organization called Advoca.  I am a board member of Advoca.  What we 'do' is help hospitals acquire the basics for a newborn baby.  Things like cribs, newborn diapers, formula, are not always easy to come by when you are the neediest of the needy.  The people that are in dire need of these items may be trying to overcome things like a job loss due to bedrest, or a premature baby that keeps you at the hospital many long hours.  Whatever the reason, no parent should be without the basic needs of a newborn when they are brought home.  A mother's joy should not turn to worry when the diaper pile or the amount of formula is low right from the start.

Advoca was formed because of a great need.  We are not religious and we are not political.  We are here to help and that is why we leave the decision to disperse these items up to frontline nurses and social workers, who know who has the greatest need.  No forms to fill out and no red tape.  Common Sense and efficiency are the staple of this organization.  I am proud of the work that we have quietly done over the years, but now it is time for me to make some noise.

The Minnesota Twins Wives Organization has teamed up with Advoca for an event Saturday September 17th prior to the game against Cleveland.  Volunteers from Advoca, as well as members of the Twins Wives Organization will be manning the main gates outside Target Field collecting donations of newborn diapers, newborn formula and cash.  Watch for the cribs to toss donations into and the signs.  We hope that this cause will bring awareness and generosity.  Below is information and location as well as the website for our non-profit group called Advoca.  Please remember that no newborn should be sleeping in a bed because there is no budget for a crib.  You can help Saturday or any other day by volunteering or donating to Advoca, and help Bring that Baby Home!

Thanks,
