Keeping Kevin Stefanski and the latest QB buzz (ep 291)

Matthew Coller checks in with Darren “Doogie” Wolfson from KSTP-TV on why the Vikings decided to keep Kevin Stefanski rather than allow him to become the New York Giants’ offensive coordinator. Also would the Vikings consider franchise tagging Case Keenum then trading him? And Doogie explains his view on why the organization loves Bridgewater as much as it does.

Well, apparently the wishful thinking about Stefanski wanting the Vikings to deny the Giants permission to talk to him can be put to bed. According to Coller’s guest, Stefanski DID want the Giants job, even if his family is happy in Minnesota.

His wife likes in in Minn.
Maybe a long shot but it wouldn’t surprise me if wifeypoo contacted someone within the organization asking he not be let go.
I’ve seen similar secret involvement by employees wives first hand going behind their husbands back. And women do tend to like security. And honestly. After having visited Minn if I could do it all over again. I’d much rather have raised my family in Minn then NJ.
Not that my family had it bad here. But its one of the first impressions I had while there was “what a great place this would be to raise a family. And my grisly ass isnt normally like that.
It reminds me of how NJ was in the 60s.

Kevin Stefanski… he’s alright… he’ll be okay… he’s fine… ugh! None of that sounds reassuring coming from an informed party.

I know its just speculation, but common sense fills in the blanks that if someone wanted something and they are told NO, there will be sour grapes. It’s human nature, can’t be helped.
Now being a man who honors his word, fulfilling a job and doing the best of his abilities, that’s not something every human is gifted with the ability to do smoothly. I doubt there will be any gruff or bad blood — there’s a contract in place — the chances of Stefanski having more opportunities next season will double if he teams up with DeFilipo and helps Minnesota’s offense hum.

Then again, the cynic in me can’t help but wonder what if Pat Shurmur played possum in his last game with Minnesota and had some under the table deal with Stefanski lined up cause he knew his job in NY was guaranteed. If the Vikes front office did catch wind of such shenanigans, blocking jobs (as cold blooded as it may be) is not entirely far-fetched.
