Cornerback A.J. Jefferson signed his one-year restricted free-agent tender with the Minnesota Vikings on Friday.

Jefferson, 25, who was acquired by the Vikings from Arizona before last season, had 31 tackles and broke up 13 passes in 15 games during the regular season. Jefferson started eight games, including the Vikings' playoff loss at Green Bay.

If Antoine Winfield does not return to the Vikings, Jefferson could play a larger role in the secondary next season. Winfield reportedly has been trying to decide whether to sign with Seattle or return to the Vikings, who released him in March but want him back at a lower price.
