MINNEAPOLIS - Glen Perkins made it to the All-Star game last season and all he got to do is warm up a few times. This year, with the game in his home ballpark, he said there's no chance he won't make an appearance.
"I don't think they'll let that happen," Perkins said Tuesday afternoon. "[Red Sox pitching coach Juan Nieves] yesterday made it pretty clear I'm pitching. ... I know that I'll be out there at some point."
Does Perkins know what innings he'll get?
"No, not a definite," he said. "Hopefully if things work out I'll be able to pitch toward the end, if not the end of the game. It's all going to depend on how the game is moving along."
Perkins got to keep his corner locker in the Twins clubhouse, and teammate Kurt Suzuki was moved to be right next to him. Suzuki said the ultimate experience would be to get in toward the end of the game and catch Perkins closing it out in an American League win.
Suzuki said he has not been told if or when he'll get in the game.
