Goaltender Adam Wilcox allowed only one goal out of 35 shots faced as the Gophers hockey team outplayed in-state rival Minnesota in a 4-1 victory on Friday.
Justin Kloos, Mike Reilly and Connor Reilly all scored to boost the Gophers (6-1-1) to a 3-0 lead after two periods.
The Mavericks (4-4-0) drew within two nearly 13 minutes into the final period, but Minnesota didn't yield again, adding on an empty net goal.
The two rivals conclude their weekend series on Saturday night (7 p.m.).
