MINNEAPOLIS -- Liam Hendriks did just about everything he could at Triple-A Rochester after being demoted earlier this season. His work paid off.
On Thursday night the Minnesota Twins announced Hendriks will be recalled in time to start Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Hendriks will be in uniform on Friday night, but the Twins won't make a corresponding roster move until after Friday's game.
In seven starts for Rochester Hendriks posted a 1.94 ERA with 42 strikeouts and 13 walks in 46 1/3 innings. He did not allow a run in either of his last two starts.
Hendriks broke camp in the Twins' starting rotation as a replacement for the injured Scott Baker, but after pitching well in his first two outings he struggled mightily against the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels.
Hendriks, an amateur free agent signing by the Twins in 2007, was the organization's minor league pitcher of the year in 2011.
