The Wild season begins Thursday, and on Sunday, the team made its final roster cuts. The 23 players on the roster are likely the 23 that will take the ice Thursday against the L.A. Kings, as the Wild open its season at the Xcel Energy Center.

The final trimming to the roster included assigning forwards Jason Zucker, Jake Dowell and Brett Bulmer to the Iowa Wild (American Hockey League).  Zucker appears to be a bit of a surprise cut, but likely will crack the roster in-season.

Here is the roster, as it stands Monday:

Forwards: Charlie Coyle, Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise, Dany Heatley, Torrey Mitchell, Kyle Brodziak, Nino Niederreiter, Matt Cooke, Mike Rupp (injured), Zenon Konopka, Jason Pominville, Justin Fontaine, Mikael Granlund.

Defensemen: Keith Ballard, Clayton Stoner, Marco Scandella, Ryan Suter, Jonas Brodin, Nate Prosser, Jared Spurgeon, Mathew Dumba.

Goalies: Niklas Backstrom, Josh Harding.
