MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins announced Friday night the contract of left-handed starter Andrew Albers would be purchased from Triple-A Rochester.

Albers will take the 40-man spot vacated by the Drew Butera trade, and the 25-man and rotation spot left open by the recent demotion of Scott Diamond.

Albers had gone 11-5 with a 2.86 ERA, 7.9 strikeouts per 9 innings, and a 1.18 WHIP in 132.1 innings (22 starts) with Rochester.

Albers will wear No. 63, and make his major league debut on Tuesday night in Kansas City
