SAN DIEGO -- Asher Allen isn't ready to return to action yet.
The Minnesota Vikings deactivated the backup cornerback for Sunday's opener at San Diego, along with fellow defensive backs Brandon Burton and Mistral Raymond, linebacker Xavier Adibi, center Brandon Fusco, tackle DeMarcus Love and end D'Aunre Reed.
Allen has been hobbled for nearly a month by a toe injury that kept him out of the Vikings' last three preseason games. He practiced this past week but was limited every day, and the Vikings chose to activate only four cornerbacks -- starters Cedric Griffin and Antoine Winfield, nickel contributor Chris Cook and punt returner Marcus Sherels -- against the Chargers.
Meanwhile, the Vikings activated four tight ends, including undrafted rookie Allen Reisner, who was re-signed off the practice squad on Saturday.
Inactive for the Chargers were: receiver Patrick Crayton, cornerback Shareece Wright, running back Jordan Todman, linebackers Larry English, Jonas Mouton and Na'il Diggs and receiver Vincent Brown.
It was a beautiful afternoon roughly 90 minutes before kickoff at Qualcomm Stadium -- not a cloud in the sky, light breeze and temperatures in the low-70s.
