The Wild, winless through three games, has had to make a few early changes this season. Most notably, between the pipes Tuesday night.
Goaltender Niklas Backstrom had to leave the ice in the first period of the Wild's eventual 3-2 loss Tuesday in Nashville. He skated slowly off the ice after Predators forward Eric Nystrom collided with Backstrom and it was deemed he had a "lower body injury."
Backup Josh Harding replaced Backstrom and allowed the ensuing penalty shot to score, but otherwise played well.
The Wild evaluated Backstrom's condition Wednesday and he reportedly has a strained knee and is day-to-day, according to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.
Meanwhile, the Wild announced Wednesday that it has recalled forward Stephane Veilleux from its American Hockey League affiliate, the Iowa Wild. The Wild also reassigned forwards Jason Zucker and Carson McMillan to the Iowa Wild.
Zucker had been brought to the Wild for Tuesday night's game, but his stay was a short one. McMillan did not play Tuesday.
