The Jamey Carroll signing could be official soon.
A baseball source confirmed that Carroll was in Minneapolis Tuesday for a physical, and if all goes well a deal will likely be completed by Wednesday, and perhaps sooner.
SI.com's Jon Heyman reported Tuesday that the deal will be worth $6.75 million over two years.
Carroll, who turns 38 in February, is expected to be the Twins' opening-day starting shortstop -- a position he played nearly 1,100 innings at over the last two seasons for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
