Linebacker Chad Greenway has been absent from many of the Minnesota Vikings' Organized Team Activities this spring so he could spend time with his ailing father in South Dakota.
But an NFL source said Monday that the current plan is for Greenway to be at Winter Park on Tuesday for the opening of the team's minicamp. Of course, if Alan Greenway takes a turn for the worse that could change.
KELO television in Sioux Falls, S.D., reported last week that Alan Greenway is battling cancer and is getting hospice care.
While the three-day minicamp is mandatory -- the OTAs are optional for players -- Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said last week that if Greenway was not at the minicamp his absence would be considered excused.
Also expected to be in attendance will be Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen, who has not been taking part in OTAs and does offseason work on his own.
