Cordarrelle Patterson to throw out ceremonial first pitch Saturday

MINNEAPOLIS -- Cordarrelle Patterson showed in his rookie season that he can do it all. The wide receiver and superb return man rushed for a touchdown, caught a pass for one and returned for one.

Now, he'll add pitching to the resume.

The Tennessee product was on hand Saturday at Target Field and is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Because the Vikings have a new head coach, the NFL allows the team to start rehab and strength and condition two weeks earlier than most other clubs. They began Monday.

Asked about his repertoire on the mound, Patterson said he throws, "like 85 [mph]."

So at least his confidence crosses over multiple sports.
