The Minnesota Vikings have lost in the Henry Melton sweepstakes as he tweeted on Tuesday that he'll join the Dallas Cowboys.

Melton, 27, will reunite with his former defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, who is currently the defensive coordinator with the Cowboys. Melton's tweet also included a farewell to the Chicago Bears, where he spent the first five seasons of his career.

The Vikings had hosted Melton last week, but the defensive tackle elected to continue his visits with the Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and reportedly with the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday, but chose to go with the hometown Cowboys. Melton is a Desoto, Texas native. The Cowboys reportedly had a little more than $7 million in cap space before signing Melton.

The Vikings have around $15.3 million in cap space and are still in the market for depth along the defensive line. They added nose tackle Linval Joseph, re-signed Fred Evans and have second-year tackle Sharrif Floyd to lean on, but need another rotational player at the three-technique spot to shore up the line.
