A familiar face is rejoining the Minnesota Twins in Los Angeles.
The Twins had catcher Drew Butera travel from Buffalo, N.Y., where he was preparing for a game with the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings, to California to be available for Tuesday night's game against the Angels.
The team confirmed in a media release a little after noon Tuesday that Butera has been recalled to the 25-man roster.
No corresponding roster move was announced, but it could involve first baseman Justin Morneau, who flew back to Minneapolis to have his ailing left wrist examined, leaving the Twins with only 11 position players.
Butera is hitting .279/.319/.429 with four extra-base hits in 48 plate appearances for Rochester this season.
