It appears the Minnesota Twins will not be carrying three catchers on the roster to start the season.

The team announced Monday morning that Drew Butera has been optioned to Triple-A Rochester, leaving Joe Mauer and Ryan Doumit as the only two catchers left in camp.

The Twins also reassigned catcher Dan Rohlfing, outfielder Brandon Boggs and infielders Jeff Clement and Ray Olmedo to minor league camp.

With just one week remaining until the start of the regular season, 31 players remain in camp including 18 pitchers (four non-roster).

On Sunday, the team announced Aaron Hicks will begin the season as the starting centerfielder and leadoff hitter.
