Officials didn't see anything wrong with Dustin Brown's elbow to Jason Pominville's head on Tuesday night. Apparently, the NHL felt differently.

The league has suspended the Los Angeles Kings' captain for two games, the NHL announced.

It's the first suspension for Brown, who will miss the Kings' games on Wednesday at Detroit and on Friday against San Jose. He'll be back for the playoffs.

Pominville was injured in the second period on Tuesday when Brown's elbow near the boards struck him in the head. He was woozy as he left the ice and did not return.

Roster move

Two days after recalling Stephane Veilleux from Houston, the Wild returned the 31-year-old forward to their AHL affiliate.

Veilleux didn't appear in Tuesday's win over Los Angeles because Zenon Konopka returned to action.
