Eric Nystrom clears waivers, assigned to Houston

Eric Nystrom is headed to Houston.

The Minnesota Wild announced on Friday the struggling center has cleared waivers and been assigned to the team's American Hockey League affiliate.

Nystrom, 28, is due $1.4 million this season and next on a contract he signed in July 2010. He had four goals and eight assists in 82 games with the Wild last season.
