Ex-Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain was released by the team last month, along with fullback Vonta Leach to save about $5 million in cap space. Since he was outright released, McClain is allowed to openly visit teams, as he will with the Vikings on Monday, before the new league year starts on Tuesday. McClain has also worked out for the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills in the past week.
McClain, 29 in July, returned to the NFL field in October after a 10-month recovery from a spinal cord contusion he suffered in December 2012. He appeared in 10 games at both inside linebacker spots in the Ravens' 3-4 scheme last season.
Before he was released, McClain spent six seasons in Baltimore starting as a special teams player after making the Ravens' roster as an undrafted free agent in 2008.
