The Minnesota Vikings waived defensive end Spencer Nealy on Wednesday and signed tight end Michael Higgins.

Nealy, 24, was suspended earlier this month for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.

Higgins went undrafted in 2011 and was picked up by the New Orleans Saints, where he's spent the past three seasons on and off the practice squad.

The Vikings report to training camp on Thursday in Mankato, with the first practice taking place on Friday.
