Flip Saunders has started the process of shaping his new front office.

The Minnesota Timberwolves' new president of basketball operations let go of five scouts from the David Kahn era on Wednesday -- Steve Gordon, Will Conroy, Pete Philo, Curtis Crawford and J.T. Prada.

Philo is credited with helping significantly with overseas scouting, a task that led to the signing of Alexey Shved and others. The 2013 NBA draft takes place on June 27. The Wolves currently have the ninth-best lottery odds.

Saunders, meanwhile, spent time Wednesday meeting with Wolves coach Rick Adelman at Target Center.
