Todd Richards is an NHL coach again.
The Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday fired coach Scott Arniel and elevated Richards to interim coach for the rest of the season.
Richards, 45, was 77-71-16 in two seasons as Minnesota Wild coach before the team fired him on April 11.
A Robbinsdale native and former Gopher, Richards joined Columbus as an assistant coach shortly after the Wild dismissed him.
The Blue Jackets (11-25-5) rank dead last in the NHL with 27 points.
