The Minnesota Gophers (20-13) failed to make the NCAA Tournament field and were selected as a No. 1 seed in the National Invitational Tournament on Sunday.

The Gophers will host High Point University on Tuesday at Williams Arena at 7:15 p.m. in coach Richard Pitino's first postseason in Minnesota.

Minnesota was the runner-up in the NIT two seasons ago under then-coach Tubby Smith, winning four-straight games as a No. 6 seed before losing in the final to Stanford.
