MINNEAPOLIS -- Safety Jamarca Sanford will not play in the Minnesota Vikings preseason opener against the Oakland Raiders on Friday night.

Sanford sat out Wednesday's training camp practice in Mankato with back spasms and did not suit up for the tilt at TCF Bank Stadium. Safety Robert Blanton (hamstring) and tight end Chase Ford (foot) will also not play.

Ford has been on the physically unable to perform list since he showed up to camp with a broken foot in late July.
