SAN FRANCISCO -- As expected, the Minnesota Vikings scratched several healthy veterans for Friday's preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
Receiver Percy Harvin, cornerback Antoine Winfield, end Jared Allen and defensive tackle Kevin Williams all got the night off for the Vikings.
Harvin was the only surprise in that group, although the team has made it clear it will continue to be cautious with his workload all season.
Scratched for injuries on Friday were: safety Robert Blanton (hamstring), tight end John Carlson (knee), receiver Kamar Jorden (hand), tackle DeMarcus Love (pectoral), halfback Adrian Peterson (knee), cornerback Josh Robinson (hamstring), guard Geoff Schwartz (sports hernia surgery) and Jordan Todman (ankle).
