Minnesota Twins designated hitter Jim Thome was originally expected to be activated in time for Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

But manager Ron Gardenhire said in an interview with 1500 ESPN that Thome "is still having some issues" with his sore back and quad.

Sidelined since June 1, Thome received an epidural shot in his back on June 10, and he has been rehabbing all week in Fort Myers. He did make the trip to Milwaukee, but was not activated prior to Friday night's game.

In 94 plate appearances this season, Thome owns a .237/.372/.447 batting line with four home runs.
