It only took a month for Wilson Ramos to rejoin the Minnesota Twins.
Optioned to Class-AAA Rochester on March 31 in spite of a strong spring, Ramos reportedly is on his way to Cleveland to join the Twins, who won't have All-Star catcher Joe Mauer tonight because he's battling a bruised left heel.
Mauer injured the heel lunging to first base on Friday and his status is day to day, according to the Star Tribune. Drew Butera will start tonight against the Indians and the Twins are expected to make a roster move after the game, perhaps optioning tonight's starting pitcher, Jeff Manship, back to Rochester.
Ramos, 22, hadn't exactly been tearing it up for the Red Wings, hitting .179 with three home runs and a .214 on-base percentage in 16 games. But he's one of the Twins' top prospects, and it probably was only a matter of time -- and health -- until he got the call to the majors.
