On Tuesday, Justin Morneau departed the Minnesota Twins' win at Detroit with a stiff back.

Apparently, it's bad enough Morneau likely will mis a couple of days.

According to the Star Tribune's Joe Christensen, Morneau has "mid-oblique stiffness" in the back, is on medication, won't play tonight and probably won't play in Thursday's series finale, either.

Michael Cuddyer will take Morneau's place at first base, while designated hitter Jim Thome will take over the No. 4 spot in the batting order.

Also via Christensen, third baseman Nick Punto received an injection for hip bursitis and will come off the DL on Saturday. Catcher Joe Mauer had the big toe on his right foot drained after it got hit with a foul tip and swelled up, but he'll be in the lineup tonight.
