MINNEAPOLIS -- Perhaps surprisingly, the Minnesota Twins received some positive injury news on Tuesday.
An MRI on right-hander Nick Blackburn's sore right forearm showed only inflammation.
Blackburn saw a specialist on Tuesday morning and was told the inflammation pushed into a nerve, which likely caused the "sharp" pain he experienced on Sunday.
The news is positive, "especially the way it felt on Sunday," said Blackburn, whose ERA has risen from 3.15 to 4.49 since June 22.
Blackburn will rest the arm for the majority of the next two weeks, but this isn't considered a season-ending injury.
