The Twins received bad news on Monday regarding Ron Mahay.
The lefty specialist will miss the remainder of the season with a torn right rotator cuff, according to the Associated Press. Mahay injured his shoulder diving for a groundball on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the injury, Mahay held lefties to a .219/.239/.281 hitting line this season.
Without Mahay and Jose Mijares, who is out for at least the next couple weeks after surgery to repair a torn meniscus, the Twins are left with only one left-handed bullpen arm -- Glen Perkins, who fares better against right-handed hitters throughout his career.
As for Kevin Slowey, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list after feeling a twinge in his right triceps, the AP reports an MRI revealed no significant damage.
