Cassel, 31, can opt out of his second year with the Vikings this offseason, but will get at least one more start over Christian Ponder and Josh Freeman. Ponder is slated to be backup with Freeman inactive.
"We just feel like [Cassel] did some good things in the ball game on Sunday and we're going to give him the opportunity to get back-to-back starts," Frazier said. "He's done a good job to earn that opportunity."
Ponder will serve as backup to Cassel for the second time this season, the first time since an Oct. 13 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Freeman will likely be inactive for the seventh time in 10 games since joining the team in October.
"Christian [Ponder] has played great at different times of the year, you know what I mean? And I think I've played well at certain times of the year and there may be other times, like against Carolina, where I didn't play as well," Cassel said. "I don't know what their decision came down to. As I said on Sunday, I would love another opportunity to play for this team and these guys and I'm excited I get another opportunity to go out there."
Frazier wouldn't commit when asked if he needed to see Freeman in another game before this offseason.
"We'll see what happens with [Freeman]," Frazier said. "We talked at length [Tuesday] about his role, he's been a pro."
