Matt Kassian won't be hitting the unrestricted free-agent market on Sunday.
The Wild announced Thursday that it has agreed to a two-year contract with the physical 25-year-old left winger. "It's fantastic, I couldn't be any happier," Kassian told the Wild website. "This is where I wanted to be and I'm glad to get something worked out."
Kassian, who is 6-foot-4, 232 pounds, had two goals with the Wild last season with both coming on March 1 against Montreal. He also had 55 penalty minutes.
Kassian was recalled from the Houston Aeroes of the American Hockey League in late December and played in 24 games with the Wild.
Kassian, the Wild's second-round pick in 2005, has played in 28 NHL games. He joins Chad Rau and Stephane Veilleux as forwards to re-sign with the Wild this week.
