The Metrodome roof has collapsed.

Roy Terwilliger, the chairman of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, told 1500 ESPN's Cory Roufs on Sunday morning the roof began to deflate around 5 a.m. after roughly 16 inches of snow accumulated on it overnight.

Per Terwilliger, there are several small tears in the roof and there is now snow on the field, putting into further peril the game between the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants that already has been delayed until 7 p.m. Monday.

Experts were expected to assess the damage by late morning. It was unclear what chance, if any, there was of making the stadium playable by Monday night.
