We'll have full coverage here at 1500ESPN.com from the Minnesota Vikings' minicamp, beginning late Friday afternoon. Here's a quick primer:

What: Vikings' mandatory minicamp.

When: Friday through Sunday. The team will practice once on Friday afternoon, twice on Saturday and once more on Sunday morning.

Where: Vikings' Winter Park headquarters in Eden Prairie.

Who: Most of the Vikings' roster, which stands at 87 players, will be on hand. DE Ray Edwards has yet to sign his restricted free-agent tender and is not expected to attend. QB Brett Favre will skip the minicamp, and RB Adrian Peterson likely will miss at least Saturday's practices because of a conflict with an event in his hometown. RB Toby Gerhart, who was barred from attending OTAs because his school remained in session, is expected to miss Sunday's practice to attend commencement ceremonies at Stanford. Any player under contract who misses any part of minicamp without permission is subject to fines.

Etc.: The collective bargaining agreement permits teams to hold one mandatory, three-day minicamp for all players each offseason, plus one additional minicamp for rookies and 14 voluntary organized team activity (OTA) practices. Practices are in shorts and helmets (no pads); no "live" contact is permitted. ... Roughly a dozen players attending OTAs sat out most on-field work, and several of them are all but certain to sit out minicamp practices as well. Most notable, CB Cedric Griffin (ACL rescontruction) and LB E.J. Henderson (fractured femur) remain months away from being ready to practice. ... LG Steve Hutchinson (shoulder), DT Pat Williams (elbow) and others veterans who had offseason surgery probably will be limited if they participate in team drills at all. ... This weekend marks the Vikings' final on-field work before training camp begins on or around July 31. ... All minicamp practices are closed to the public.
