The Minnesota Wild claimed right winger Nick Johnson">Nick Johnson off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
Johnson, 25, had a goal and two assists with five penalty minutes in four games with the Penguins last season. He added 39 points (20 goals, 19 assists) and 49 penalty minutes in 48 games with the Penguins' American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Johnson, 6-1, 183 pounds, played college hockey at Dartmouth from 2004-08, finishing with 57 goals, 68 assists and 106 penalty minutes in 133 games. The Penguins made him their third-round pick (No. 67 overall) in the 2004 draft.
He has played in 10 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and has two goals and three assists. He posted a career-high 43 points (16-27) in 2009-10 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
