As it turns out, the Minnesota Twins' season can get more bizarre.

According to, outfielder Denard Span and third baseman Danny Valencia were involved in a minor car accident on Thursday evening, and as a result both were held out of the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Cleveland Indians.

On the way to the airport, Span rear-ended Valencia in stop-and-go traffic, and per the report both are experiencing mild whiplash and headaches.

Span said the accident triggered some of the migraine symptoms he's been dealing with over the past few months.

Span made his return to the lineup on Wednesday after being sidelined for five weeks. After taking Thursday off, he expected to play Friday, but it's unknown now when he will return to the lineup.
