NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Rookie draft picks Mistral Raymond and Stephen Burton were among seven players the Minnesota Vikings scratched for Saturday's preseason opener at Tennessee.

Raymond, a sixth-round pick who received first-team reps at safety this week, tweaked a hamstring while returning an interception on the final play of training camp on Thursday.

Burton, a seventh-round pick who endured a rough camp at receiver, and halfback Tristan Davis were surprises on the scratch list because they didn't have previously known injuries.

Out as expected were tight end Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring), guard Anthony Herrera (knee/triceps), linebacker Kenny Onatolu (foot) and cornerback Cedric Griffin, a precautionary scratch as he continues to recover from knee reconstruction.

Asher Allen got the start in place of Griffin and Jimmy Kleinsasser in place of Shiancoe.

Healthy starters only were expected to play a series or two against the Titans.

It was cloudy and 89 degrees two hours before the scheduled 7 p.m. kickoff at LP Field.
