Sophomore Wally Ellenson will miss at least Friday's season opener for the Minnesota Gophers basketball team as he currently works through an 'incident' with coach Richard Pitino, per 1500ESPN.com contributor Darren Wolfson.

Mo Walker, a redshirt junior center who has lost nearly 50 pounds since last season, has been suspended for the first six games of the season, the University announced in a press release.

Walker had 17 points and 13 rebounds in the team's exhibition opener against Concordia-St. Paul on Nov. 4. Ellenson, a forward, averaged just 14 minutes in both exhibitions this month.

The Gophers will open their non-conference schedule with a shorter bench against Lehigh on Friday night at Williams Arena. The Mountain Hawks are best known for defeating 2-seed Duke as a 15-seed in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
