The NCAA has approved the transfer of Gophers basketball target Joey King, a source confirmed Thursday to 1500ESPN.com contributor Darren Wolfson.

King announced his transfer in June, but it took several months to gain NCAA approval.

The former Drake player is expected to get time this season as a forward for the Gophers. He averaged 6.9 points in 19 minutes per game for the Bulldogs last season.

He starred for Eastview High School in Apple Valley.
