Minnesota Vikings end Ray Edwards has been fined $5,000 for a late hit in Saturday's exhibition win over Seattle, an NFL spokesman said on Friday.

The play occurred early in the third quarter. Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck faked a handoff left and then rolled right on a naked bootleg. Edwards accelerated from the edge and launched himself after Hasselbeck threw incomplete for Mike Williams.

Officials flagged Edwards for roughing the passer, helping to set up a Seattle field goal.
