MINNEAPOLIS -- To fill the roster spot of the ailing Matt Capps, the Minnesota Twins have recalled right-hander Nick Blackburn from Triple-A Rochester.
In two starts since his demotion, Blackburn has allowed only one earned run on 14 hits and a walk while striking out five in 15 innings. Blackburn's groundball rate was a very solid 55% in those two starts.
In 13 starts for the Twins this season, Blackburn owns an 8.10 ERA with 20 strikeouts, 22 walks and 15 home runs allowed over 63 1/3 innings. Only three times in those 13 starts did Blackburn allow fewer than four runs.
