Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom started Wednesday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but skated off with an apparenty injury midway through the first period.

Josh Harding, who has been sensational lately, entered for Backstrom.

Backstrom was preparing to make a save when Leafs forward Nazem Kadri barreled over the goalie and replays certainly looked as if the hit was intentional. Backstrom lay still on his back for several seconds before a trainer got out to talk to him. He remained in the game briefly, but was pulled soon for Harding.

The Wild had planned to give Harding the night off, but he will take over with Backstrom unable to finish.
