Nikola Pekovic undergoes 'successful' surgery on troublesome ankle

Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic underwent surgery on Tuesday to remove bone spurs in the right ankle that gave him trouble this past season.
Dr. Martin O'Malley performed the surgery, which a release from the team declared "successful,"at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
The injury forced Pekovic to miss eight games past season. He averaged 13.9 points and 7.4 rebounds in 47 games, ranking second in the NBA in field-goal percentage (56.4%) and finishing third in voting for the NBA's most improved player award.
