EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Phil Loadholt's bad day against the New Orleans Saints just got a little worse.
An NFL spokesman on Friday said Loadholt has been fined $10,000 for a pair of unnecessary roughness violations in the Minnesota Vikings' 14-9 loss on Sept. 9. The second-year tackle "grabbed his opponent by the facemask in an attempt to block him on pass plays in the second and fourth quarter."
Loadholt was flagged for a facemask in the second quarter and again for holding in the fourth quarter, after he'd moved from right to left tackle in place of injured Bryant McKinnie.
The holding call short-circuited the Vikings' final offensive drive and was part of an all-around disappointing night for Loadholt, who also scuffled in the running game and allowed four quarterback pressures.
