MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins are winding down batting practice here at Target Field, where the pregame media throng that has players feeling, in the words of Michael Cuddyer, "like we're in the All-Star Game."

Some quick notes as we approach 2 hours to first pitch ...

* So far, the weather has held up. The sun has peeked out a few times, and it's cool and breezy.

* Manager Ron Gardenhire is going with his Opening Day batting order.

1. Denard Span CF
2. Orlando Hudson 2B
3. Joe Mauer C
4. Justin Morneau 1B
5. Michael Cuddyer RF
6. Jason Kubel DH
7. Delmon Young LF
8. J.J. Hardy SS
9. Nick Punto 3B

* Carl Pavano, the No. 3 starter in the Twins' hot rotation, gets the start on the mound. "It's a good thing for Pavano," Gardenhire said. "He can handle this."

* Gardenhire on the first regular season game at Target Field: "We're excited to be home. It is what it is. We had a heck of a road trip and a long one and a lot of miles covered. But we're excited to be home and get back to this ballpark. Opening Days are Opening days - you always want to be a part of ‘em if you're lucky enough to be in a uniform. It doesn't get much bigger than this one here, opening Target Field."

We'll have more coverage as the day goes on. Also, come back and chat live with Phil Mackey, Joe Anderson and I (as well as your fellow fans) beginning around 3:10 p.m.
