Adrian Peterson will get surgery on his ailing groin, according to media reports.
The lingering injury that forced him from the season's final game and had him withdraw from the Pro Bowl will require surgery. ESPN's Josina Anderson first reported the news.

Teammate Jerome Felton said last week that he heard if Peterson needed the surgery, it wouldn't be a 'major deal.' Felton said he expected the recovery time to be about one or two months, and suggested that Peterson would be ready to go by next season.
"From everything I've heard it wouldn't be a major deal, maybe it'd be a month or two out, but that's what the offseason is for," Felton said Monday morning on the Judd Zulgad show. "He'll work hard, he'll do everything he needs to do to come back strong, I don't have any doubts about that."
