The Twins have brought back an old friend. Or more accurately, given an old friend a chance to earn his way back.

Jason Bartlett has agreed to a non-roster deal with the team, according to Jerry Crasnick of

Bartlett, of course got his start with Minnesota in 2004, but really burst onto the scene midseason in 2006 when he took over for Juan Castro at shortstop.

Then Bartlett went to the Rays in the Delmon Young-Matt Garza trade and solidified their middle infield. His last good season was in 2009, when he hit .320/.389/.490.

Bartlett hit .133/.240/.193 over 98 plate appearances in 2012 for the Padres and did not play in 2013. He recently turned 34 years old.
