MINNEAPOLIS -- Josh Willingham was claimed off waivers on Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune. That team, according to a Baltimore Sun report, was the Baltimore Orioles.

The Twins now have two days to trade, pull him from waivers, or let the claiming team assume the remainder of his contract. He's signed through next season for $7 million.

If the Twins pull him off waivers, they will not be able to send him through again, meaning he would spend the rest of the season in Minnesota.

Willingham played in Wednesday's game, batting cleanup and playing left field.

Willingham is hitting .215/.347/.391 with 12 home runs, and has hit just .182/.313/.364 (2 HR) since missing five weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in early July.
