Jared Allen may have to alter his signature sack celebration.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported on Sunday morning the NFL has told the All-Pro end he will be flagged and fined if he continues to do the celebration, which involves Allen miming the rodeo-style roping of a calf.
League rules prohibit players from going to the ground in celebration unless they're praying. So, Allen is considered to be in violation because he drops to a knee before making the roping motion and then spreading his arms.
A noted outdoorsman, Allen has done the celebration for years -- including after most of his 30 sacks over two-plus seasons with the Vikings -- so it's unclear why the league is cracking down now.
Allen's only sack this season came Sept. 19 against Miami. It's possible the Dolphins turned in tape of Allen celebrating to ask why he wasn't penalized.
