Twins lefthander Scott Diamond has been placed on waivers, according to Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press

Diamond is out of minor league options, so if the Twins wanted to send him to Triple-A Rochester, he first would need to clear waivers.

Berardino reports that the waiver proces started Tuesday for Diamond, meaning by Thursday at noon, the Twins would know whether or not a team claimed him.

Kyle Gibson apparently won the fifth starter's role. Sam Deduno, it seems, remains a candidate for the Twins' bullpen.

Vance Worley was placed on waivers Friday and traded to the Pirates for cash Tuesday.

If Diamond is claimed, the team that claims him would need to keep him on the Major League roster or pass him through waivers to send him to the minors.
